History:

The area takes its name from Lieutenant General Fredrik Ferdinand Hausmann (1693–1757), who owned Ankerløkken for a few years from 1732, and who has also given his name to Hausmannsgate. On the site of what is now Hausmannsgate 19, where our head office is now located, there was once a petrol station.

The fifteen blocks south of Hausmannsgate were built from the 1860s and on. Since then, the area has had a mix of homes, businesses, houses of worship, schools, and other institutions, as well as eateries and premises for voluntary organisations - a mix that is typical of the city centre's fringe.
